Benny Hardy : “Error Analysis on the Use of Tenses” .
A Thesis :
This thesis investigates students’ ability in forming English sentence by using appropriate tenses, by the students of SMA Negeri 1 Kutacane. The data were collected by using writing test, done by 62 students. The method in this research is descriptive quantitative the data were collected then processed by applying t test. The study finds that the students are not able in forming English sentences by using appropriate tenses, it is shown from the data the 43 of student has score 60 down and 19 has score 70 up. And the test has been divided in three kinds of lever that are easy item, moderate item, and difficult item and its describe as 1 item or 1.6% that categorized as a difficult item. The item is number 14. There are 9 items or 14.5% that categorized as moderate items. The items are number 1, 5, 8, 13, 15, 16, 17, 19, and 20. There are 10 Items or 16.6% that categorized as easy items. The items are number 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 9, 10, 11, 12, 18.
